The Stem Cell Action Coalition serves as an engine uniting the pro-cures community. We demand that our elected and appointed officials in all branches of government establish embryonic stem cell research as a national public health priority.
Cell lines derived from embryonic stem cells (ESCs) serve as a means to understand developmental biology, important for dissecting the root causes of a broad spectrum of diseases. These cell lines provide tools for drug discovery and development of cell therapies for curing a host of disabling and often deadly medical conditions, and for which current and continuing needs are unmet. These include, among others, multiple sclerosis, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, spinal cord injury, stroke, blindness, AIDS, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s, birth defects and many more.
